Library cards are free for all residents of Saskatchewan. There are two options for getting a library card!
Option 1: Go to your nearest branch and show 2 pieces of identification, one of which displays your current address. Acceptable pieces of ID include (but are not limited to):
- Driver’s license
- Student card
- Treaty card
- Personal cheque book
- Cancelled personal mail
- Utility bill
- Government correspondence
- Saskatchewan Health Card
If you are a Saskatchewan resident but don’t have any pieces of suitable identification, just give us a call at 306-763-8496 and we’ll let you know what you can use to obtain your card.
After we approve your ID and enter your information into our system, we will give you your new card! The card includes a barcode for us to scan at the library and your 14 digit library card number. We will then need you to give us a Personal Identification Number (PIN) so you can sign in online. Make sure it’s something easy for you to remember! By default we use the last four digits of the phone number we have on file for you.
Children under 14 can also get a library card, but they require a guardian’s signature on the application form. Please note that the guardian is responsible for what his/her children borrow.
Option 2: Register for your card online! Click the Login link on the top of the screen. From there click the “Need an Account?” link. Or, click or tap here: Register Now to be taken to the start of the registration process.
If you live within Prince Albert’s city limits and pay your taxes to the City of Prince Albert, select Prince Albert – John M. Cuelenaere from the drop down menu. Then enter your postal code.
If you do not pay taxes to the City of Prince Albert and live within one of the nearby RMs select Wapiti – Headquarters from the drop down menu.
Next, you will be taken to a page where you will fill out your personal information. Once you have filled out that information click submit. If you have questions about how to fill in your information please call 306-763-8496 for help.
Once you click submit you will be given a temporary barcode number. This temporary barcode number will eventually expire, so make sure you get in contact with us so we can create a permanent card for you.
