Calling all readers! Did you just finish a great book and now you want to read something similar? Do you need help finding a specific book? Do you want to read new books by your favourite author? Do you want to discover new reading genres? If you answered “YES” to any of these questions, then the library can help!
In fact, that’s exactly what Readers’ Advisory is all about: providing advice to readers about what to read next. So, before you decide on which book to pick up, stop by the Info Desk at the main branch for reading suggestions tailored to your unique literary tastes and needs. The Readers’ Advisory Librarian is always ready and willing to answer any questions. Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and the librarian will respond to you promptly. Or, if you prefer in-person, the Reader’s Advisory Librarian is on-duty at the Information Desk between 1:30 and 5:00 every Thursday.
You can check out our book displays as well – which include award winners, staff picks, and local titles – or grab one of our read-alike bookmarks. These contain lists of authors who have similar writing styles or lists of books that have similar plots, styles, or genres. You can also click on any of the links to the left for Readers’ Advisory suggestions from online sources. Literary databases can help you search for new books and reading maps can help you explore new genres. Happy reading!
